How The Drop Payouts are Funded

With lotteries, a prize amount and time limit is predetermined by the operator. Ticket revenue has no bearing on the size of the jackpot and this allows operators to make large, undisclosed amounts of profit over and above the funding of the prize amount. When operators announce a draw they are essentially betting on players to fund that prize amount through ticket sales revenue by the draw date. They have no obligation to players to have any transparency as to where funds came from or how much of ticket revenue went elsewhere. The Drop can only be triggered when its contract balance reaches the predetermined target prize amount and it’s funded solely and completely through ticket sale revenue that is visible and can be tracked in real-time.
